The Guhyasamaja Center does not charge for teachings. All aspects of
our spiritual program are offered on a "dana" basis. Dana is
a Sanskrit word meaning generosity. We humbly offer you an opportunity
to practice generosity by making the Dharma teachings available to our
community. We trust that if you feel the Buddha's teachings can help alleviate
the suffering of even one other sentient being, you will be inspired to
do all you can to share the Dharma, the ultimate medicine.
So take a minute and explore your motivation and circumstances. What
does it really mean to practice generosity? Can you make skip a few meals
or a vacation in order to support the Dharma? Please give with the recognition
of how rare it is to even have the opportunity to accumulate merit by
offering the teachings. Let your heart guide you to practice generosity
in whatever form or manner that takes. Finally, please dedicate the merit
of your participation and generosity to the Ultimate Liberation of all
mother sentient beings.
Your generous contribution goes towards teacher stipends, transportation,
insurance, visas, facility rental and other operating costs. We are also
saving up so that we can have a permanent meeting place of our own!
On average, the Center spends about $2,000 - $2,500 per month
to host Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche (in 2008, transportation, room and board
are being donated). These costs include the translator, attendant, airfare,
transportation, health insurance, room, board, stipends and medical care.
By the way, your donations are tax deductible in accordance with State
and Federal law. We send everyone a letter at the end of the
year with their total donation for their tax records. For cash donations,
please be sure to ask for a receipt at the time of the donation.
Checks are included in the tax letters automatically.
And, just as a reminder, the Center is run entirely by volunteers. Another
very important and fun way in which you can help the Center grow is by
donating your time and talent. If you have any questions, please contact
Jeff Nye, Treasurer, email: assist_director at guhyasamaja.org (replace
the at with @).
