"It's
so urgent, especially nowadays, to have meditation centers--Dharma study
groups--in this world. Actually that's the most important thing in the
world! Temporary happiness, ultimate happiness, liberation from samsara,
full enlightenment, everything comes from pure actions--from good karma--which
comes from having a pure mind, a mind one with Dharma. Among the types
of service offering Dharma is the most important, most urgent service
to sentient beings. Like if somebody has a heart attack, has an emergency,
we take them to the emergency hospital - but this meditation center
or the group learning Dharma, educating sentient beings, is a billion
times more important than an emergency hospital."
~ Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Letter from the Director
Dear Friends,
The purpose of Guhyasamaja Center is to help others by providing pure
Buddhist teachings, retreats, and other activities to nurture participants'
spiritual growth and development. Our center is solely run by the kindness
and generosity of volunteers, and we are only funded by donations given
by our students and friends. We never charge for Dharma teachings, so
it's only through donations that we are able to continue hosting teachings.
Our primary costs include paying our mortgage on the center building,
condo fees, insurance, advertising, travel costs for visiting teachers
and translators, donations to visiting teachers and translators, copying
study materials, annual donations for prayers and support of sangha, and
rental/food costs when we host residential retreats.
The main purpose of membership is to help the center continue making
the Dharma available to you by allowing us to meet those costs. Membership
is particularly important for the center as it allows us sustain our current
location and to host Gyume Khensur Rinpoche andother visiting teachers.
If we have strong, predictable support from our members, we can plan
for the future. It will also allow us to pay off our current mortgage
and move towards long-term plans of eventually purchasing a larger space
that would allow us to have a resident teacher/lama. It also allows us
to host more regular teaching sessions, classes, group meditations, retreats
and other Dharma events.
I encourage you to meet with me or other Center members to learn more
about the Center, and I hope you will become part of our Dharma community.
If you have any questions, please contact our membership coordinator,
Matt Gausman at membership_at_guhyasamaja.org (replace the _at_ with "@").
Sincerely,
Lorne Ladner

Letter from Membership
Coordinator
Dear Friends,
My name is Matthew Gausman and I am the membership coordinator at the
center. I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and tell you a little
bit about some of the exciting things we have coming up and explain how
you can help.
This is a very dynamic time for the center, we just recently completed
the purchase of a permanent Dharma center, and are actively exploring
ways to increase the opportunities our community has to learn and practice
the Dharma. This new stage in our development comes with increased financial
burdens and our long term success depends entirely on the support of our
members and the community, so I am reaching out to you in the hopes that
you will join with us to make it happen.
A critical component of our ability to repay our mortgage loan is to
have a thriving and active official membership base. For as little as
ten dollars a month, you can become a member of our center with all of
the privileges described below. Signing up is fast and easy on our site
with a credit or debit card, or alternatively you can find directions
there to pay by check or money order. We deeply appreciate everyone who
shows their support by becoming a member of our center and we hope you
don’t stop there. On our website you will find our schedule, and
we hope you come out to as many classes as possible
Finally, as our organization becomes larger and more complex so does
our need for new volunteers and sustained fundraising activity. If we
are to be able to obtain and preserve our own center full time, we will
need people willing to help with various organizational and fundraising
activities. We’ve had a very successful two years with our building
fund initiative, but we must keep that momentum up and expand upon it.
Donations to the building fund are gratefully accepted on our website,
and anyone interested in volunteering their time can contact me directly
at membership@guhyasamaja.org. Please also contact me with any questions,
concerns, suggestions
I know that with your help the center will continue to grow and prosper
and continue to be a place where people can learn how to work with their
minds for the benefit of all sentient beings. I thank you for your time,
and look forward to hearing from and meeting you, and working together
so that all living beings can be imbued with happiness and the causes
of happiness.
Sincerely,
Matthew Gausman
