Saka Dawa
In 2026, Saka Dawa Duchen (the 15th day of the 4th Tibetan month) falls on May 31, with the entire holy month lasting from May 17 to June 15, 2026.
According to FPMT, this period commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni's birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana, with merit multiplied by 300 million times.
Join us on this holy day for prayers and a recitation of the Sutra Remembering the Three Jewels.
Compassion Without the Heavy Load
True compassion doesn’t mean carrying the weight of the world or losing ourselves in others’ pain. Often, what we call compassion is tangled up with beliefs—subtle distortions in how we view ourselves, others, and the nature of the experience itself.

Transforming Problems into Happiness
One of the most powerful methods to go beyond ego and attachment — for our own sake and so that we can effectively benefit others — is to happily greet our problems. As Lama Zopa Rinpoche says, “The thought of liking problems should arise naturally, like the thought of liking ice cream!”
This is the brave attitude of the bodhisattvas. Why think this way?

Dharma Talk on 7 Limbs
We see these 7 limbs in many prayers. Exactly what is their function? To support our daily practice. Much like the limbs of our body supporting the trunk, these limbs support our main practice and enable it to function. These 7 Limbs are also very practical as they can be used to enable us to obtain what we wish for. We want such things as respect, resources, to overcome regret, gain real confidence and to receive more dharma! These are what the 7 limbs will enable us to create the causes for.
Suggested donation: $15/class for non members and $10/class for members. No one is turned away due to a lack of funds. Please donate online.

Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life
Instructions on how to live a life grounded in love and compassion, integrating the path to enlightenment into daily living
H. H. the Dalai Lama has often praised this text as the most important work on living with compassion and cultivating bodhichitta (the altruistic heart intent on awakening for all beings). The text is a beautiful, often moving, extensive poem in ten chapters. One of its unique features is that the majority of the text is accessible to newer students (who are deeply interested in living a life of compassion) while also being highly relevant to those who’ve been practicing for a long while.
Suggested donations: $15/class for non-members and $10/class for members. No one is turned away due to a lack of funds. Donate online.

DB 13 - Introduction to Tantra
Discovering Buddhism Module 13- Introduction to Tantra
"According to Tantra, perfection is not something that is waiting for us somewhere in the future....Everything that we need in order to be complete is within us right at this very moment. It is simply a matter of being able to recognize it. This is the tantric approach." (Lama Yeshe, Introduction to Tantra)
We ask that students show up 10-15 minutes before the class begins at 10 AM as we start promptly with prayers and meditation. This will ensure that participants are not disturbed by people entering the room late. Please enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and snacks before and after class.
