Lama Tsongkhapa Day
In the dark of winter, we celebrate the light of wisdom that shines to this day in the teachings of Je Rinpoche, Lama Tsongkhapa.
Sunday, December 14
All merit created is multiplied 100,000 times.
What is Lama Tsongkhapa Day?
"In regions where the supreme precious teaching has not spread or where it has spread but then declined,
With my heart deeply moved by great compassion,
may I illuminate this treasure of happiness and benefit."
- Lama Tsongkhapa (1357-1419)
Lama Tsongkhapa Losang Drakpa is celebrated as one of Tibet's greatest scholar-yogis.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama brings Je Rinpoche's heritage to the modern world, and his teachings are the basis of our training at Sravasti Abbey.
Throughout his life, Je Rinpoche practiced and taught the entire path to awakening.
His compassion and wisdom shine through the centuries, offering clear and direct instructions for how to practice.
Traditionally, Lama Tsongkhapa Day is celebrated with many light offerings.
May the light of Lama Tsongkhapa's teachings, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, always increase!
